v2.0.0
Beta2.0 is in beta. Kotlin Multiplatform and the bowlerShip commands may still change before the stable release; Expo and Flutter projects keep working as before.
Kotlin Multiplatform Template
A third framework next to Expo and Flutter: native Jetpack Compose on Android and SwiftUI on iOS, sharing their logic in Kotlin. Run `bowler create` and pick Kotlin Multiplatform, with the Account or Guest profile. `bowler doctor kmp` checks the toolchain and `bowler setup` renames the app.
Local Reminders for Guest Apps (KMP)
Guest apps have no push server, so the Notifications settings now schedule reminders on the device itself: AlarmManager on Android (re-armed after a reboot) and a repeating calendar trigger on iOS.
bowlerShip Commands Now Live Under `bowler ship`
Every bowlerShip flow is grouped under one command: `bowler ship changelog`, `ship context`, `ship pricing`, `ship revcat`, and `ship admob`. The old top-level `bowler changelog`, `bowler context`, and `bowler pricing` are gone, so update any scripts that call them. `bowler ship connect` now only stores your API token; bind a project with `bowler ship add`.
Doctor Detects the macOS Java Stub
On macOS, `/usr/bin/java` exists even without a JDK installed. `bowler doctor` now reports it as a missing JDK instead of passing the check.
v1.3.1
Flutter Apps Crash at Launch After Renaming
Renaming your app with the setup wizard changed the Android applicationId but left the Kotlin launcher activity under the old package name, so renamed apps crashed immediately with ClassNotFoundException. The wizard now moves MainActivity.kt to match your new bundle identifier, prunes stale directories, and self-heals projects that were already affected — just re-run `bowler setup` once, then rebuild.
macOS Builds Now Follow Your Bundle Identifier
Desktop targets kept Flutter's scaffold default (`com.example.mobile`) no matter what you named your app. The setup wizard now unifies the macOS AppInfo.xcconfig and Xcode project with your Android/iOS bundle identifier, RunnerTests suffix included.
v1.3.0
`bowler setup` — Make It Yours in One Command
New projects no longer ship with placeholder names. `bowler setup` walks you through renaming everything at once: your app’s display name, the Android package / iOS bundle identifier, the deep link URL scheme, your landing page copy, and the API URL it talks to. It knows which landing surface your project uses, shows exactly what changes before anything is written, and can be re-run any time.
Create Now Offers Setup Automatically
Right after `bowler create` finishes installing dependencies, it offers to run the setup wizard on the spot — one prompt instead of hunting for docs. Declining is always fine; run `bowler setup` inside the project directory whenever you’re ready.
Landing Page Rebranding That Matches Your Profile
The setup wizard now rebrands the right files for how your project was assembled: Guest projects get their standalone landing page updated, while Account projects rebrand the landing surface built into the admin panel — plus APP_NAME across both flows.
v1.2.1
Install Without sudo
The one-line installer now installs straight into your home directory (~/.local/bin) whenever the system-wide folder isn't writable — no root password asked, and it prints ready-to-paste PATH setup if your shell needs it.
`bowler upgrade` No Longer Demands Root
Upgrading a copy you can't overwrite (say, one installed with sudo long ago) now succeeds by placing the new version in ~/.local/bin and telling you exactly how to make it take over — instead of stopping at a permission error.
v1.2.0
Full Security Audit, Everything Fixed
We put our entire delivery pipeline under a microscope this week. Found a few weak spots, fixed all of them, and shipped the fixes the same day. Your downloads were never tampered with — now they're also much harder to mess with.
Abuse Protection That Knows Real Users
Our download limiter now tells genuine visitors apart from bad actors, so honest users never get stuck in line while abusive traffic does.
Purchase Events You Can Trust
Purchase notifications are now double-checked before anything happens with them. Your welcome email arrives reliably, even when deliveries need a second try.
Gentle Warning for Unsafe Settings
`bowler config set-api` now speaks up if you point it at an address without HTTPS — your license key deserves encryption.
Hardened Everywhere Else Too
Request size limits, smarter timeouts, and cleaner error messages across the service. Also refreshed the docs site dependencies and removed an unused endpoint — fewer doors, all locked.
v1.1.0
Update With One Command
`bowler upgrade` grabs the newest release, verifies it's genuinely ours, and swaps it in safely. No reinstall dance.
Never Miss a Release
The CLI quietly checks for new versions about once a day and shows a single friendly line when there's something newer. It never interrupts what you're doing.
Move Between Machines Freely
Retiring a laptop? `bowler deactivate` frees your seat in seconds so your new machine can take it. Founder covers one machine, Studio up to five.
Private Analytics
We added tiny, anonymous counters (random IDs, no cookies) to learn what people actually use — so we build the right things next.
A Nicer Status Page
Visiting the service in a browser now shows a clean little status card instead of nothing.
v1.0.0
Hello World — BowlerKit Is Live 🚀
One command and you're in: `curl -fsSL https://cli.bowlerkit.com | sh`, then `bowler create my-app`. Enter your license key, pick Expo or Flutter, pick Account or Guest — and a ready-to-run project lands on your machine.
Two Flavors, One Codebase
Account gives you the full online stack: login, accounts, backend. Guest is local-first — no server required, works offline. Same polished codebase either way, and both keep monetization switched on.
Make Money From Day One
RevenueCat subscriptions and Google AdMob come pre-wired — paywall, entitlements, banner/interstitial/rewarded ads with graceful fallbacks. Swap in your own IDs and ship.
The Backend Comes Too
Account projects include a Laravel admin panel (auth, tokens, uploads, webhooks) plus a fast Go API that's already speaking the same language — no glue code needed.
Safety Built In
Downloads are verified and unpacked with protection against tampering and malicious file paths. Your license unlocks your projects — it never exposes ours.
`bowler doctor`
Check whether your machine is ready to build for Expo or Flutter before you start, not after.
Your AI Assistant Gets a Manual
Generated projects include agent-ready guides (AGENTS.md, BOWLERKIT.md) so tools like Claude or Cursor understand your project instantly — plus a step-by-step cleanup guide for Guest apps.
A Year of Craft in One Download
These templates have been refined since April 2025: design-token theming, multiple app themes, billing, a full admin console, and a production-grade API — all included in your very first `bowler create`.
Follow the journey.
We continue to improve BowlerKit with new features and enhancements.
